Its hard to believe january is over, holidays are over and the kids are back at school and the new year is well and truly on it's way to being another crazy busy year!
The beginning of February see's preparations for a favourite holiday of mine....Valentines Day. I mean really....who doesn't love to celebrate love? I've been scouring Pinterest for some inspiration and thought I'd share some of my favourite finds so far. They are all DIY projects so you might want to grab a pen and paper for notes, a hot cup of tea and enjoy some lovely pictures (pun intended ;)

Mini dessert tables are perfect if you want to do something a little special for a dinner party or even Christmas day. Here are a few tips to make creating one a little easier.
1. Decide on a colour theme. It is always nice to keep the colours flowing on from what you have used on your tree.
2. Instead of using a trestle table for your desserts table, simply use a small dresser or hall table.
3. Find something to use as a focal point. It may be a frame, vase of baubles, mini Christmas tree, pom poms or a bouquet of fresh flowers.
4. Chose a small selection of desserts such as cupcakes, cake pops and/or slices. Also include a selection of lollies that go with your colour theme.
5. Incorporate a selection of vases, candy jars, cake stands and bowls on your table to give height and interest.
For our first table, we hung some white and silver pom poms from a branch. We used a white and silver colour palette with a splash of light blue.
For the second table, we changed the entire look by simply adding some glitter numbers, baubles and a candy jar filled with aqua lollies.
Mini dessert tables really can be simple, fun and quick to pull together!

Christmas baubles! What's not to love about Christmas baubles? I love that they are not just for decorating the tree but make a sensational splash of colour on a dinning table in vases or even as Christmas wreaths.

Have you made reindeer food before? If not, I really can't tell you just how excited the children get when they sprinkle it on to the grass on Christmas Eve! It is easy to make and makes a great little gift.
Reindeer Food Ingredients:
Rolled oats, sugar and glitter. Simply mix together.
You can package the reindeer food in a small jar, glad bag or in decorated matchboxes {found these at the craft store and decorated them}. Add a tag with the reindeer food saying on it.
Reindeer food saying:
'Sprinkle this on you lawn at night. The moon will make it sparkle bright. As Santa's reindeer fly and roam this will guide them to you home'.

Need a cute gift for a niece, nephews or a friends little one? Well why not make them a little pack of gingerbread playdough? I saw this idea on a blog many years ago and have made it for my friends children many times. Simply make the playdough, put it in a cute jar and include a gingerbread cookie cutter. This year I also made some glitter playdough and put it all in a gift box.
Gingerbread Playdough Recipe
1 cup salt
2 cups plain flour
2 cups of water
2 tsp of oil
4 tsp of cream of tartar
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp ground cloves
brown food colour {add once dough is made}
Cook all ingredients over a low heat, stirring until the dough forms a ball in the middle of the saucepan. Add brown food colour. Store in the fridge.
For the glitter version, I left out the spices, add a bright colour and then rolled the playdough in silver glitter.

I always love making a little gift for my nieces and nephews at Christmas time. A little extra something to go with their gift. I recently came across this cute little idea of 'Sewn Paper Lolly Pouches' on Pinterest and thought that I would make some too. I decided to change mine a little by adding some ribbon to make them look like an hanging Christmas tree ornament and I also stamped their initial on to them.
These are the ones that I found on Pinterest.
I also love this idea of using them as an advent calender! Too cute!
