Yes your Granny had them, under lamps, under her crockery display, on top of the side table as decoration, scattered through out the house - yes we're talking about doilies. Don't laugh, that daggy Grandma decor you used to turn your head away in embarrassment at is now seriously back in fashion!
The modern doily is so versatile. Doilies are used in so many ways these days and are totally cool! Use them to give a present a girly touch, wrap one around a candle holder to create a soft glow, make a bunting, or put them in a frame. The idea's are endless! Well, not my grandma, but more of my mom. She has a lot of them all over the house. I never thought that doilies can be used in ways like these. By the way, the doilies as ribbons for boxes are simply brilliant.

this post has inspired me to do a couple of quick doily projects for Christmas (but using mini paper doilies instead)
